Aerosols and Microbiology: Connecting Disciplines in the Post-Pandemic Era

Aerosols and microbiology combined sharply during recent pandemics. This special collection of articles explores the interface of microbiology and aerosol science spanning public health, agriculture, veterinary and biodefence research. Novel aerosol techniques and application of new experimental and modelling approaches providing step-wise change in understanding of bioaerosol sources, transport and transmission, and the detection, control and mitigation are welcomed. Emergent topics such as the impact of bioaerosols on climate and pollution, seeding biofilms, and environmental/ respiratory aeromicrobiome and application of ‘omic and single-droplet approaches to aerobiology.
This cross-journal collection will feature new primary research, opinion pieces, and review articles arising from the “Aerosols and Microbiology: Connecting Disciplines in the Post-Pandemic Era” meeting held in Bristol 4-6 June 2024.
The collection is also open for new submissions from all researchers working across the interface of aerosols and microbiology. The collection is open for submissions across Microbiology, Journal of General Virology and Journal of Medical Microbiology. Please indicate within your submission that it is intended for the collection.
